L UNAS BORTULADAS
Un padre pastore e il giovane figlio si affaccendano dalle prime luci del giorno in un piccolo ovile in Sardegna. I cani abbaiano, un maiale passeggia, le pecore belano, suoni e versi che disegnano un paesaggio di relazioni tra l’uomo e il mondo animale, immersi in un ambiente in cui ogni gesto, dall’accensione del fuoco alla preparazione del formaggio, è segno rituale di un ripetersi di azioni tra il passato e presente. E’ una mancata coincidenza – la luna capovolta – un entrare e uscire nel tempo, tra filmati d’archivio e incontri fugaci di un padre e un figlio, custodi di un tempo che si ripete ancora.

A nche tu sei l’amore Un piccolo film nato da un laboratorio di cinema alle periferie della città di Sassari. Al centro della storia la ricerca dell’amore di una cenerentola originaria della Bosnia che percorrendo un bosco e una strada lungo la ferrovia, incontra degli insoliti personaggi. Troverà una maga, un giovane Romeo, una donna vestita di rosso e il burattino pulcinella, una storia tra la finzione, la realtà e il surreale: incantesimi, canzoni e dialoghi in romanì, la messa in scena di un matrimonio tra due giovani che arriva fino al palcoscenico di un teatro.

SULLA STESSA BARCA (ON THE SAME BOAT)

A video camera bursts into a reception centre for asylum seekers in the Mediterranean island of Sardinia. Toni came from Libya on a boat, one that would bind friendships and destinies and upon which lives seeking freedom are entrusted. In another part, a hut in the woods is being built, an emotional representation of a journey crossing frontiers. They‟re all floating on “the same boat”, however, as their common destiny is to seek recognition, granted by a document which bestows them the dignity of self-determination and free movement within European borders.

NAKO-LA TERRA (NAKO-THE LAND)

N ako – The Land – recounts about work, aspirations and dreams of migrant persons who are at a refugee centre in the inner part of Sardinia. The images and voices of the protagonists connect us to other countries and other invisible persons, to families in need of help, to children with whom they wish to reunite. We live their longing, the suffering of a daily routine characterized by uncertainty, we feel the woe of lives in suspense between two worlds, we are involved in a documentary that draws us into spaces that transcend boundaries.
Yet Nako is also land of refuge, the geography of unknown places, the harbor after a surreal journey, the gaze that tries to place itself in the present time, the search for a belonging to the earth, the silence and the incredulity of having survived, the need to remember and to forget.
The protagonists recount their experiences in a straightforward manner or symbolically through other stories. Talking about their personal stories, the protagonists of Nako provide us with the biographies of all contemporary migrants.

R-ESISTENZE (R-EXISTANCE)

T he boundary of the place is blurred, it is a strip of society which preserves fragments of a life that no longer exists, mindful of the deep trauma of an industrial process that has marked its past and compromised its future. In Porto Torres, a small port town in the north of Sardinia, the mouth of a river is a middle ground between the recent past and today’s reality.  It is memory and it is the present time. A boat is sailing along the Rio Mannu, paddling slowly as if time has stopped, its stops metaphorically becoming the meeting points with the stories of a microcosm that survives at the edges of the bridge, over and underneath it. The film looks around, among the old inhabited houses, through cultivated fields under the disused railway line and inside a shack built opposite the remains of the Marinella beach. Three characters share memories of an existence, which today is a resistance that looks at the empty space it has left behind and resists change, as a custodian of its own territory and of its own time.

OLTRE I MIEI CONFINI (BEYOND MY BORDERS)

S tanding in the school’s garden, Antonio expresses his desire to go beyond his own borders.
The documentary, a participatory video, brings together the testimonies of three persons – of different ages, sex and provenience – their faces and stories interlacing and reflecting on the issue of migration: Gabriel, an Eritrean activist who fled from dictatorship after having fought for his country’s independence; Kissima, asylum seeker in Italy who fled the Gambia; and Mariam, born of an Iranian father and  a  mother from Sassari. The voices, along with poetry and original photos of a migratory journey, recount the profound personal experiences and the necessity to understand and to know each other in order to rise above physical and mental barriers and to prevail over prejudice and the denial of rights of those who want to migrate freely.

THE CIVIC MARKET OF SASSARI. Testimonies And Stories Of A Change

“The civic market of Sassari. Testimonies and stories of a change” is an independent film project that takes shape in 2011, in the moment immediately preceding the closure of the old market and its moving in the adjacent new area, inaugurated by the municipality in December 2012.
The docu-film tells stories of work, of a life spent in the city’s historical place for trade, where the commercial tradition of the three main economic activities of ancient Sassari is still kept: the agricultural work of the greengrocers, the cattle breeding with the butchers and the fish sellers.
The final closure of the old the civic market’s area has certainly marked a turning point in the historical heart of the city, but without erasing the fascination of the ancient  “agora” in the collective imagination.
The documentary film reconstructs the history of the civic market from the writings of Enrico Costa, telling the popular, cultural and economic spirit of the Sassari’s market and its characters, until depicting the changes of the new urban “face” marked by the economic evolution of the city nowadays. The trailer with the original musics by the Sassari singer and songwriter Gavino Riva.

LUCI A MARE (LIGHTS AT SEA)

L ights at Sea is a tale of men, living and working at sea. For over two decades every year a fishing boat has sailed  from the island of Ponza to Porto Torres (Sassari, Northern Sardinia). The core of the story is the everyday life of the crew: the overnight work, the routine and demands of the sea and the hierarchies and rivalries among the twelve men aboard the fishing boat “Capobianco”.  The documentary unfolds through the recollections and conversations of the fishermen in their native dialects with the constant background of the noise of the engine. Lights at Sea is a symbolic search; the constant struggle between man and the sea, while the unpredictable nature of the catch is synonymous with gain or basic survival. The moon gazes over the long working night and governs the currents that bring the fish into and out of the gulf. The boat sails around the two small fishing lamps, two men wait, illuminated only by the lights at sea.
