EXHIBITIONS / COURSES / WORKSHOP – in collaboration with
Filtro 44 is a physical space of 90 mq. It represents the creative experience of the artists who have been engaged in artistic and social participation through photography. Filtro 44 is a place of production and observation of the environment that surrounds us, a place for meetings, workshops, exhibitions and exchange through visual art. Filter 44 stands at “Kodak Filter Wratten n. 44 Blue-light green, complementary to red with a noticeable absorption of ultraviolet “, as the space Filter 44 stands towards society as a considerable absorption of its complexity.
Filtro 44 has been a space dedicated to the study, research and experimentation of new photographic techniques and languages. A place for production and observation, of exchanges and passages with an eye beyond the borders of the island. The idea was to favour a laboratory dynamic where the equipment can be used for the experimentation and research of photographic techniques, and with the aim to stimulate the creation of new reportages, documentaries and audio-visual projects with a new and original point of view.
Can an exhibition be conceived as a demonstration?
We also wish to interpret “disarming” as a word that takes away the weapons, and leaves without weapons those who live from the war, that disarms our tortured land. Images are carrier of messages, information and identity. It is an exhibition where we manifest, with creativity, our views of the world, what we don’t want, because that’s what we are. Free, always.
Al Margine is an unusual place of adventure: digressions on photography in which the object of research is a profound existential experience. The “margin” is a search for signs in the world out there: in the daily lives inside and outside a house, in the streets, on the sidewalks, until the conceptual expression of femininity and its subjective representations. Al Margine is, today in Sassari, a cry for vindication and collective activism.
Every society regulates very rigidly people’s lives, bodies and sexuality. In our western society (as well as in the traditional Sardinian one) sexuality is mainly attributed to a practice or reproduction, and the erotic imaginary is controlled by a repressive masculine and heteronormative vision. Hence a freer sexuality is seen as dirty, dangerous, perverse. A more aware sexuality is not only a simple transgression of the norms, but as a generator of change. Overcoming a conditioned sexuality is a posthuman goal. POSTHUMAN is the exaltation of our subjectivity that passes through self-acceptance and recognition of the other’s subjectivity. POSTHUMAN are those who struggle every day to affirm themselves in a society that imposes their identities, roles, genres, and sexuality defined under the banner of a presumed normality. POSTHUMAN are the heroes who finally break down the barriers of prejudice and the normalizing canons that flatten our identities.
